Our Potterswood site operates from a bungalow set in peaceful woodland on the grounds of John Cabot Academy. We are lucky to have our own private woodland area adjoining the nursery which both sites use for our Forest School sessions.

Baby Room

Both our sites house separate baby facilities. In this warm environment our staff care for up our babies aged six weeks to two years old. Ensuring we give the babies individual attention, support, stimulation, fun, lots of love and experiences is of utmost importance to us. An adult ratio of 1:3 enables each baby’s individual routine to be carefully followed. Our separate homely sleep room, connected by a baby monitor, allows the babies to sleep in safety and undisturbed

Toddler Room

Fascinated with the world around them our staff nurture our groups of toddlers with a balance of routine, provocations, experiences and moments of quiet rest. Although toddlers are learning to be more independent an adult ratio of 1:4 allows them to enjoy cuddles and link up to familiar adults for support.

Pre School Room

Our group of sixteen pre school children aged 2.5 – 5 years enjoy an exciting day filled with endless fun, provacations and learning opportunities through play. Our Staff promote each child’s confidence and self esteem to equip them with the skills needed to become competent learners. The children enjoy an adult ratio of 1:8 in this room.

Our Garden

We view the garden as an outdoor classroom where a huge amount of learning takes place. The children have access to the garden throughout the day with our free flow system. Even in the rain and snow they enjoy some invaluable learning experiences.

We have a large grass area that provides an array of open ended learning opportunities such as den building, balancing and digging in the mud kitchen and construction areas. An artificial turfed area offers opportunities for sand and water play. We provide lots of educational opportunities and experiences and there is a bug hotel for the more adventurous ones! Designated planting areas enable the children to grow and tend to plants and vegetable crops.

What our parents say

The team at Hillside Nursery have been amazing. We put our daughter in at 12 months. As a first time mum. Super nervous we made the right decision.

We never looked back. Georgia and Ellie are amazing. Grace has come on leaps and is super confident these days. She does however love eating sand and getting filthy ?

Wonderful nursery and team.

As an Early Years Teacher, choosing which nursery to send my daughter to wasn’t an easy decision. However on discovering Hillside Day Nursery, I was really confident it was the place for her! The staff are amazing and have all taken the time to get to know my daughter really well. She absolutely loves going to nursery and has made some love friendships.
The team have been developing the environment over the past year and it looks exciting, engaging and beautiful!
My daughter has developed in all areas of her learning, guided by the wonderful Hillside team. I would not hesitate to recommend the nursery to others.
