Planning is done individually for children and is based upon their interests. This enables us to build up knowledge about how children learn and make progress, allowing us to plan each childs next steps appropriately.
All activities are planned using the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
All children are observed regularly, these observations form part of each child's "learning diary" which allows staff to track each individual child's progress.
Every effort is made to treating and respecting each individual as a person in his or her own right, without racial or gender stereotyping and with equal rights and responsibilities to any other individual of a similar age, whether they are an adult or a child.
Discrimination under sex, race, religion, colour, creed, marital status, ethnic or national origin or political belief has no place in the nursery. Any such discrimination will be challenged and discussed.
Throughout the nursery children are encouraged and taught by the example to show respect for each other and to help others whenever possible.
Good behaviour is rewarded with praise and encouragement and "reward stickers" are used to reinforce this.
Unacceptable behaviour, such as being rude to or hurting others is strongly discouraged.
Where possible children are distracted before this type of behaviour becomes a problem.
Special Education Needs >>
lf another child has been hurt the child responsible is asked to apologise and understand that their actions were undesirable. Parents are informed of any serious or on going problems and would work in partnership to resolve the situation. From a very early age all the children are encouraged to say thank you for their food/ drinks therefore teaching them to be courteous to others.
